The contact plate horn slip ring is a component found in some Porsche 911 models. Specifically, it was used in the early Porsche 911 models produced from 1965 to 1973, which were equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel and a horn button in the center.
The contact plate horn slip ring is a circular electrical component that is mounted on the steering column behind the steering wheel. It is made up of a series of metal contact plates that rotate with the steering wheel. These contact plates make contact with a stationary metal ring, which is connected to the car's electrical system.
When the driver presses the horn button on the steering wheel, the contact plate horn slip ring allows the electrical signal to pass through the rotating contact plates and into the stationary metal ring, which completes the circuit and sounds the car's horn.
